November 1st, 2013 @ 20:51:56Froooozzzeeeeeen. Famous film for 2013. I never managed to see it in cinema though, although it’s come out on dvd now (but it’s still showing in some cinemas I think :S huuuuhhh???).

I only watch it because my mum is desperate to watch it after they won some awards at the BAFTA’s. hmmm.

Anyway, I watch it and it was completely different to how I expected it to be. It’s a story of two sisters where one has a magical power to turn things to ice, except for her she turns the whole kingdom to ice… and yeah… the story is kind of about getting summer back again.

Although this film is no Finding Nemo, it was actually a pretty good family film. When I have children I would consider watching this with them… might be a few years off that though!

Oh the moose is the best! 😀

frozen-disney-5My favourite part of the movie was where the moose gets his tongue caught on the stairway made of ice… although you only see it for like a fraction of a second… I  couldn’t find a decent pic of it so have the above one instead 🙂

181128-sean-lock-purple-van-man-tourIf you didn’t already know, I think Sean Lock is absolutely brilliant. He regularly has me in tears of laughter.

This was his latest tour, if I had known about the tour I definitely would have gone to see it! I’m eagle eyed for the next one! He’s just so mad!

I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but it was very funny, I wasn’t in a super happy/funny mood so maybe I didn’t enjoy it as much as I otherwise would have but I still laughed a lot, particularly at one seen, his mental imagery is amazing!

After Sex… interesting title for a film.
I watched this because I looked up Mila Kunis’ filmography and this was one of her first main film debuts. I wanted to see her beginnings, I reckon she’ll go onto bigger and better things, I guess i’ve caught the Kunis bug after watching Oz The Great and Powerful. heh, she is pretty hot!

But err yeah, back to the film. It’s about 9 couples, a short story to each, discussing their relationships and whatever else people generally feel the need to talk about right after the moment. Most of the couples are hetrosexual but 3 are gay. Some of their conversations were quite funny, who is the “bitch and the butch”. Some of the people’s conversations were quite deep and meaningful and some were just stupid.

Mila Kunis was hot in it. AfterSex
Anyway, not a seminal film by any means but it was kinda funny to watch in parts.

tryptich_4000x1800We’re off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz!

Well this story adds to the many many sub stories from the book. I do really like the story and the sub-stories but they all seem to contradict one another. Well this and the musical Wicked definitely contradict each other.

I’ll be honest I really thought this adaptation would be terrible, another horrible made, cash cow making movie. But it was actually pretty good, in parts at least. It’s not a seminal film, but Mila Kunis is hot in it! haha.

The story is about the wizard arriving in Oz, well before Dorothy and Toto turn up.

Oz-The-Great-and-Powerful-caEmerald city! it’s actually pretty well made, I mean they didn’t exactly show much of anything but I thought it worked pretty well!

oz-the-great-and-powerful (1)This little girl was my favourite, she’s made of China and the wizard used glue to stick her legs back together when the wicked witch sent her flying baboons to destroy China city (noooes!).

Porcorosso
Quite a bizarre film. It’s Sunday so I thought i’d watch some kind of animation, so this was it!

I’ve heard of this film quite a lot, I see it on the shelves at various shops in the World Cinema section. It wasn’t what I thought it’d be. It’s all about a man who got turned into a pig but now flys a plane to capture/kill pirates lol. He has his own quiet little island where he lies on the beach waiting for a new job.

porcorosso202The story is mostly about Porco (or Crimson Pig in English :S, it’s Porco Rosso in German), trying to beat the American pilot to save himself financially and stop a girl he’s looking after to not marry the american.

porco_rossoIt’s a little stupid in parts, and I can’t believe they could turn it into a 1 & 1/2 hour movie. It was interesting to watch but maybe I wasn’t in the mood for it. It was also nice to see a Japanese film based in a different country (Italy).

A fest for crows game of thrones
Before reading this book I looked at the reviews of the book online, and kind of wish I hadn’t.

This book as George RR Martin explains is half of the real book, but the book became so long that it would end up being 2000 pages which is ridiculous. So this book is all about the story of Cersei, Jamie, Arya, Sansa, Brienne, Iron Islands and Dorne, oh and SAMWELL. WOW so much written about Samwell and not a a lot amount happens omg.

There’s a lot of filler detail in this book, it feels like it’s leading up to something, much like the second book, but 770 pages is so long! It could have easily been written into 200 pages or less!

The ending of the book was brilliant and i’m really looking forward to what happens next but most likely that isn’t in print yet as the next book (split into two) is all about characters not in King’s Landing.

Anyway, I would recommend you read it, you really can’t skip it and the tv series will be another two years coming yet so go read it! Hopefully it

11168027_800Amadeus! I’ve been meaning to watch this film in forever!

The story is of course about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Or Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart to give his proper baptised name. It’s told from the perspective of Antonio Salieri giving his confession to a priest, he is telling his story about how he killed Mozart.

Anyway, the story is great. It’s a dramatisation of events and in so a lot of it is not strictly true. However, it touches on quite a few factual points in mozart’s life, where he’d perform for nobility in his youth (heavily pushed by his father) and to eventually keep producing operas.

Amadeus-aging-Salieri
Antonio Salieri in his old age, many years after the death of Mozart.

Mozart dies very young, with his unfinished reqiuem and this story kind of bases itself around that. It portrays Mozart as a bit mad, but a genius nonetheless.

AmadeusMozart above, being a bit mad.

It’s not a recent film, it came out in 1984 but it is soooo good. Go watch it!

Laputa

“SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!” Pazu (the little boy) says this a lot, Sheeta is the name of the other main character (girl).

Anyway Laputa is a long lost floating island in the sky, which is a castle. The little girl is a long lost descendant of the people who lived there (and ruled the world). And anyway she falls from the sky and meets the boy Pazu.

The story is about them together trying to avoid the army and pirates who want treasure on the island, but nobody knows where the island is; the only person who can show the way is Sheeta with her magical stone.

Above are pics of the pirates who make me laugh quite a lot throughout the film.

Strangely one of the best characters in the book is a robot, well not just one, but I don’t want to spoil the whole story 🙂

Laputa1
There are lots of weirdo flying machines in the film too!

It’s not my favourite Miyazaki film, but I did really enjoy it! 🙂

Django

Django Unchained was one of the most celebrated movies of 2012. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go to the cinema to go and watch it. It was on during a time in my life where I was living the furthest away from a cinema I have ever been! Saying that, I wasn’t dieing to watch it, i’m not a big fan of Jamie Foxx, although i’m probably just basing that on a cringe worthy performance in Horrible Bosses.

I have to say this film was utterly brilliant. It was very Tarantinoeque, probably because he directed it (it’s based on a comic book btw). but if you sat me down to watch it and at the end say who directed it without telling me prior I would definitely had said Tarantino.

django1

Anyway, the movie is about Django (above) who is a slave but is special in someway; he gets rescued by Dr Schultz (played spectacularly by Christopher Waltz). It turns out Dr Schultz isn’t the travelling dentist he appears to be, but a bounty hunter who then recruits Django. Hence the above being a hit.

django-unchained1Django only has eyes of rescuing his wife (also a slave) from a super wealthy and quite mad Calvin Candie (played by Leonardo Di Caprio), owner of the famous Candie Land plantations. The majority of the story is the elborate plot rescue his [bizarrely] German speaking wife.

Django
Samuel L Jackson plays Stephen, Mr Candie’s chief of staff. Despite being black himself, he’s risen far above his peers, much to the detriment of his peers as he’s cruel and one of the most annoying characters I think i’ve ever seen Jackson play. It’s him who finds out the plan Django is doing to rescue his wife, and rats him out to Mr Candie. UH-OH.

Sorry too many spoilers in this one, but it’s such a good film! I would totally recommend. The only criticism of the film is that it is nearly 3 hours long, and although I was totally captivated all the way through it ate into quite a lot of my day lol.

I would 100% watch again!

Stupid beyond belief. I honestly have no idea how I sat through this movie.

I loved the first Hangover movie, the second was quite funny but this one if taken as a standalone movie sucked beyond belief.

Watch the first and second one, and give this one a miss; i’m just grateful I didn’t pay over £10 to go to cinema to see it! I’ll very much doubt they’ll make another movie any time soon!

I’ll say it again, sucked beyond belief.
